Thanks to everyone who popped by to visit us at the Auckland On Water Boat Show last month. It was great to see some familiar faces, to chat with some of our berth holders and potential new customers, and to catch up with some old marine industry colleagues and acquaintances.
Westhaven News April 2023
We were pleased to welcome Craig Walker and Phoenix Simeon to our dockmaster team in late February.
Craig has been living in New Zealand for the past 14 years, after moving from South Africa where he spent most of his working life running primarily resort hotels.
Phoenix was born in New Zealand but has lived most of her life in the United Kingdom and Germany.
Mike Keown has just come on board as our new marinas asset manager, coming to us from Gulf Harbour Marina, which he managed for the past four years.
Belinda Mulder recently joined the marina team in the role of customer service representative. She has about 20 years' experience in a high paced medical administration environment.
Viaduct and Silo team
Harriet Dennison was welcomed to the Viaduct and Silo marinas team in March as their new office coordinator. Hailing from the United Kingdom, she moved to New Zealand in January 2020 after working in various administrative roles in both London and Sydney. Since moving to Auckland, Harriet has discovered a keen interest in boating and can often be seen out on the water trying out new fishing spots.
Customer satisfaction survey 2023
Thank you very much to the 461 customers who provided feedback in this year’s annual customer satisfaction survey about Westhaven Marina. The survey is now closed and over the coming months we will go through your responses to determine themes and identify areas for improvement.
We’ll keep you informed about how we’re taking your feedback on board by addressing key themes identified from your responses in our newsletter throughout the year.
All completed surveys went in the draw to win one of five $50 vouchers for one of Westhaven’s marina businesses. We have been in touch with the prize winners.
Upcoming project – Westhaven Seawall Upgrade
As a result of adverse weather events combined with king tides causing extensive damage within Westhaven in recent years, plans are well underway to upgrade Westhaven’s northern reclamation seawall to protect people, infrastructure and assets from coastal flooding.
Construction and maintenance update
Construction of the reclamation car park began last month and is progressing well. Works have been focussed on laying inground services, and construction of the cantilevered promenade along the southern edge of the reclamation is next on the cards.
The construction site and laydown area encompass the new reclamation as well as a portion of the existing eastern car park area. The contractors are doing their best to minimise the reduction of existing car parks; however some car parks will be unavailable at times throughout the construction period.
As part of a CCTV project that is underway across Eke Panuku managed waterfront areas, 15 additional CCTV cameras are about to be installed in Westhaven over the coming weeks, including licence plate recognition cameras at the marina’s entrance/exit points.
These new cameras will enhance our CCTV coverage and bolster our commitment to keeping your vessels safe. We expect any disruption from this work to be minimal and anticipate the new cameras to be in operation by July 2023.
