Recently completed, ongoing, and upcoming maintenance work
Our ongoing maintenance programme focuses on improving safety, reliability and the overall experience for berth holders and visitors.
Pile maintenance and refurbishment
W pier is currently undergoing pile sleeving. Over the next six months, we will also replace walers, through rods and corner frames. Exact dates will be communicated closer to the time.
Gangway lighting
Following a successful trial, we selected a durable, low-level lighting solution for the marina gangways. The lights improve visibility at night while directing light downwards onto the walking surface. Installation is now rolling out pier by pier.
Gate replacement
The marina-wide glass sliding gate replacement programme is nearing completion. Installation of the final gate at T pier is scheduled for the week of 19 October, with affected parties to be notified once the exact date is confirmed.
F1 pier will also receive new glass safety screens over the coming weeks, replacing the existing aluminium screens.
Electrical upgrades
Replacement of the older electrical distribution boards on the northern side of the marina is now complete. The new equipment and stainless-steel enclosures will support a safer and more reliable power supply.
Further electrical work is planned over the next six to nine months, including replacement of the main electrical cable on U pier and the lighting cable on V pier. Both cables have reached the end of their service life and will be replaced to help maintain the reliability of the marina’s electrical systems.
Z pier boat ramp repairs
Some concrete pontoon sections at the Z pier boat ramp have developed cracks. Selected sections will be replaced this year to maintain the ramp’s condition and keep this important water access point serviceable for Aucklanders.
Z pier gate replacement
The sliding gate at the main entrance to the Z pier charter base will soon be replaced with a swinging gate. The new gate will provide more user-friendly access and allow better control over entry to these floating structures.
New mobile safety ladders
All new, larger mobile safety ladders (pictured below) have now been installed at the start of each pier. More stable and extending deeper into the water than the previous ladders, they provide improved access in an emergency.
Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the new ladders on your next visit.

Non-marina projects
Westhaven car park lighting replacement project
Work to replace the remaining older lighting across parts of Westhaven Marina’s car parks and promenade areas is continuing, with completion expected around December 2026. The work is being carried out in stages to minimise disruption, although some parking spaces may be temporarily unavailable as work progresses.
Electrical works on Westhaven Drive
Vector and its contractors are scheduled to undertake electrical works on Westhaven Drive, near 173–175 Westhaven Drive (Gate F), between 2 and 27 November 2026. The main construction activities are expected to take approximately 10 days within this period.
Work hours are expected to be 7am to 7pm, with potential night works between 7pm and 5am if required.
The works involve installing new electrical infrastructure and may affect traffic, pedestrian access and parking near the worksite. Westhaven Drive will remain open to vehicles, although minor delays may occur. Access to marina berths, businesses and properties will be maintained wherever possible, and traffic controllers will assist people moving through the work area.
Temporary no-parking restrictions will apply near the worksite, with signs potentially installed up to 24 hours before work begins. Construction activities may also generate increased noise.
Every effort will be made to minimise disruption while these important network upgrades are completed.
For enquiries, contact Rahul Kaplish at Vector on 021 255 6305 or rahul.kaplish@vector.co.nz.
Please see the map below for the location of the work area and where parking will be unavailable while the work is underway.
