Over the coming months, the marina team will be carrying out an audit of Westhaven Marina's floating structures to help ensure the marina remains safe, accessible and well maintained for everyone.
As a reminder, under the marina rules, customers are not permitted to store personal items on piers, fingers or other marina areas without prior approval from marina management. Customers must also obtain written approval before making any alterations or additions to their berth or adjacent marina structures, including installing fixtures, fittings or other attachments.
Following the audit, some berth holders may be contacted and asked to remove unauthorised items or structures to help maintain safe access, support ongoing maintenance, and keep the marina looking its best.
The photos below show examples of suitable and unsuitable fixtures and fittings used at Westhaven Marina.
Note: Some fenders are secured from the top and can hinge up when access to pontoon bolts is required (see the lifting fender example below). Others are fixed directly to the face of the pile and cannot be lifted, meaning they need to be removed before our team can carry out maintenance or inspections. Lifting fenders allow easier access to check the condition of piles and fittings, identify maintenance requirements, and help keep marina infrastructure in good condition.
