Maintenance Update July 2025

Ongoing and completed maintenance work

Y pier waler replacement – began 21 June 2025

Refurbishment works to replace the timber walers on Y pier began on 21 June. The project is being delivered in stages and is expected to take approximately four months to complete as contractors work progressively along the pier.

Fuel pier access

If you plan to use the fuel pier during this time, please note:

  • Buoys will mark areas around the work site that must remain clear for safety and operational access.
  • Vessels are asked to avoid these marked zones when approaching or departing the fuel pier.

Please refer to the image below for a site overview. Our contractors have a health and safety plan in place throughout the project. Please take extra care around the work area and follow any instructions provided by the team.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping maintain a safe environment for contractors and marina users.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the marina team.

Pier refurbishment

  • A pier: Sleeving of piles is currently underway.
  • Marina piles: Replacement of degraded piles continues across the marina.
  • X pier: Refurbishment is progressing well, including the full replacement of steel and timber components, and sleeving of all piles.

L pier renewal – completed
Refurbishment of L pier is now complete (see story and photos below).

V pier T-head – completed

The T-head on V pier has been returned to its original function following removal of the old decking. This area was previously used for dinghy storage for pile-moored vessels. However, similar to U Pier, the steel substructure had reached the end of its life.

Upcoming project: Westhaven Marina works depot replacement

A project to replace the dockmaster and maintenance office at 137 Westhaven Drive is scheduled to begin in late July.

This small but essential building has reached the end of its service life. Its current layout no longer supports operational needs, and its ground-level position makes it increasingly vulnerable to flooding during extreme weather.

What’s happening?

Work begins on 21 July 2025, with an expected duration of up to four months. The project will involve:

  • Deconstructing the existing building, with an emphasis on recycling and reusing materials.
  • Installing a new, single-storey modular building – constructed offsite and installed on the same footprint.
  • Elevating the new structure by one metre to enhance resilience to future weather events.

What to expect during construction:

The contractors will work hard to minimise disruption, but some temporary impacts are expected:

  • Noise and dust: Construction activity will take place only during permitted hours. Dust will be carefully managed.
  • Traffic and parking: A Traffic Management Plan will be in place, which may include stop-go controls, reduced parking near the site, and occasional traffic delays.

A full health and safety plan will be in place throughout the project.

Thank you for your patience and support as we complete these important upgrades. We'll continue to keep you informed as work progresses.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the team.
