Westhaven Marina finalist in Marina of the Year program
Westhaven Marina has been named as a finalist in two categories of the Marina Industries Association Marina of the Year Awards.
The Awards are an international program that acknowledges excellence in marina management. Westhaven Marina is recognised in the categories of Best International Marina and Most Innovative Marketing by a Marina.
Westhaven Marina, which is managed by Waterfront Auckland on behalf of the people of Auckland, is the largest marina in the Southern Hemisphere and the heart of boating in Auckland.
Over half of all yacht racing in New Zealand originates in Westhaven, and it is home base to around 2,000 yachts of all kinds, four yacht clubs, several sailing schools, 900 contractors, three chandlers, and numerous boating and water sports operators, including a fleet of 29 Etchells.
Afloat Westhaven features the largest recreational refuelling facility in the southern hemisphere, a kilometre of modern fully serviced super yacht berths, 300 pile moorings providing affordable entry level boating options, 1868 wet berths, and a 45-berth charter base.
“We are striving towards building marina that future generations will cherish,” says Waterfront Auckland’s General Manager of Marinas, Tom Warren.
“This means developing a facility that meets the needs of all types of boats, a high level of customer service, security, accessibility through carparking and transport, and proximity to marine services.”
“It requires a high level of attention to detail to all aspects of the business, and the team at Westhaven have already managed a great deal of change in a short time to create an excellent foundation to build upon, which this recognises.”
The Marina of the Year Awards are organised by the Australian based Marina Industries Association. Winners will be announced at the Marine15 conference to be held in Queensland in May.
