Y Pier build - September update
The Y Pier development project that introduces 66 new berths and a fuel facility to Westhaven Marina remains on track and is expected to open for business in October:
This week, whalers are being replaced on the primary walkway to V, W and X Pier, to prepare for the arrival of the clip on floats that will house all the services including, the fuel lines, sewage and new electrical cables.
The development includes the replacement of the primary gatehouse, which will introduce some firsts for Westhaven including a glass sliding door, and solar power lighting.
Plans for the general upgrade of the planting, seating, and sustainable timber walkway, are being finalised. The CCTV system is being upgraded to include these new areas of Westhaven and will monitor the dinghy racks in St Mary’s Bay and out over the main fairways.
Multihull berths on the Y Pier connector are being improved for both access and uniformity when the boats return. The fuel tank by the T pier toilet block has been installed over the past two weeks. There will be some minor car parking disruption between the tank location and the VWX Pier gate house whilst fuel pipes are installed.
The old X Pier loading pontoon will be installed in early October to the south of the Westhaven Boat ramps and connect with the new promenade, to be used by Sailability, Dragonboaters and paddleboraders. In the interim the pontoon has been loaned to assist organisers of the Auckland On-Water Boat Show.
