New safety measures
With summer at its height we'd like to remind all visitors to Westhaven to be courteous and safe on our roads, carparks, and shared paths.
This month we have introduced measures to slow down vehicles and cyclists in the round about area by the Harbour Bridge.
Please keep an eye out for new road markings, judder bars, and a pedestrian crossing as you pass the Ponsonby Cruising Club near the Westhaven round about by the Harbour Bridge.
This is a piece of road that is shared by walkers, runners, cyclists, marina users and vehicles, and so these items are intentionally highly visible to ensure that vehicles slow down as they drive through, and also that walkers and cyclists use the correct route.
Westhaven's shared paths have a good track record but we also ask all walkers and runners to in return be aware that cyclists are very welcome to use the Promenade, and to keep to one side where possible, move to the left to let cyclists pass, and be alert and careful.
We ask all those that want to ride at speed and who are confident riding on the road, to please consider using Westhaven Drive, where the speed limit for all vehicles is 30kph and which is a direct route to the city.
Dogs should always be on a leash.
