Green Gorilla supports SEA CLEANERS
A giant of the waste services world has pledged to support the enormous efforts of SEA CLEANERS by providing waste facilities at New Zealand’s biggest marina, Westhaven.
When Sea Cleaners vessels return to Westhaven after a day at sea removing rubbish from the waterways of Auckland, they deposit the debris in a new purpose built rubbish facility at Westhaven’s Z Pier.
Green Gorilla, in turn, takes the debris away for disposal, as part of a new partnership agreement between the two organisations.
Green Gorilla’s Graeme Bowkett says that they were impressed by Captain Hayden Smith’s vision and dedication, and wanted to provide support.
“Our collaboration with Sea Cleaners by collecting the waste removed from our sea, harbours and oceans, is an alignment of our values and an investment in our country environmentally, economically and emotionally to cultivate a legacy that will live beyond us.”
Green Gorilla divert over 3 million kilograms of waste from Auckland landfill each month and Sea Cleaners has so far removed 5.1 million litres of rubbish from our coast.
“Together we can build even greater gorilla-sized successes,” he says.
While the debris collected isn’t suitable for recycling, because of the condition and contamination after floating around in the sea for varying lengths of time, Green Gorilla does ensure it’s disposed of safely in a landfill facility.
Sea Cleaners is also proudly supported by Westhaven Marina.
