Be safe in the fairways
Along with the Christmas season hopefully comes warmer weather and an opportunity for you all to get out on the water and enjoy your boats. Logistics Team Leader Jayson Maud (pictured) asks everyone to be considerate in the fairways:
With almost 2000 boats in the Westhaven Marina this is a busy time with a lot of vessels moving around. So here are a few helpful reminders and tips to make yours and everyone else’s start or end to their time out on the water even more enjoyable. Our great team of Dockmasters are available 24 hours 7 days a week should you require any assistance.
5 knots and no wake - We know your keen to get away or home, but it’s not far from the entrance to your berth so for everyone’s safety please keep your speed below 5 knots producing no wake.
Stay starboard - when in the fairways keep as far to the starboard (right) as practical. This allows room for vessels to pass each other safely with plenty of room.
Be aware and communicate – keep an eye out for other boats and let them know what you are intending to do should you be manoeuvring. Remember you may know what you want to do, but no one can read your mind.
